Love of the Father

I John 4:18
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear [a]involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

Trust is built on the love that is shown in the process of adoption.  This child is completely unaware of the massive change that is taking place in their life.  Lisa and I reach out and demonstrate the love that God has for us.  Slowly over time, trust is built on the love demonstrated.  Sara is showing signs of trust.  Day one there was not much response to touch.  Today she is laughing at tickling and reaching out for us.  Children in orphanages typically get little affection from adults and show ways of consoling themselves.  Sad but true.  It takes time to develop.  We are starting to see response from love and affection.  It's sad to think there are millions of children that may never get love and affection from a father and mother.  It is awesome to see God's love demonstrated here.  All of the adoptive parents have special needs in some form or another.  I could simply cry watching all of these families reaching out and opening their home to a child.

This reminds me of how God looks at us.  We are all imperfect in some way.  Completely helpless and undeserving.  He demonstrated is love for us by sending His son, Jesus to give you eternal life.  His PERFECT Love.  Jesus paid it all for you, perfectly.  If there was some way you could earn salvation, the Jesus would not have needed to die.  Someone had to pay it and He did, just for you.  There is no fear in Jesus.  His Love for you is perfect.  No need to fear God's wrath if you are in Jesus.  Trust Him, believe Him, He will set you free.

Sara's father,
Eric
